Japanese Te-Form Quiz: 10 Questions with Explanations

Form the te-form before you use requests, permission or an ongoing-action expression. This quiz checks the ending itself, so type only the requested form and keep て and で distinct. You can answer one question at a time or check all ten at the end.

Before you start

Check the verb group first. Ichidan verbs drop る and add て. Godan verbs use different sound changes: う・つ・る become って; む・ぶ・ぬ become んで; く becomes いて; ぐ becomes いで; and す becomes して. The verb 行く has the special form 行って.

A final る is not enough to identify the group: 帰る is godan, while 食べる is ichidan. After checking, read the explanation for the pattern you missed and try a different verb in the conjugation tool. A same-day retry remains separate from a later review.
