Japanese Short Reading Quiz: 10 Notice and Message Questions
Practise finding a concrete detail in a short Japanese notice or message. Every question includes its own passage, so you can answer without opening a separate article. All notices and situations are original fictional learning material.
Before you start
Read the whole passage once before looking for the answer. Notice words that mark a change, a negative or an exception: 今日は, でも, ではなく and 休みです can all change the next action. Then find the specific time, place, item or quantity requested by the question.
Some questions ask for a Japanese word and others ask for digits only. Follow that instruction so your answer can be checked precisely. If you miss an item, compare the phrase you copied with the phrase that actually answers the question. The answer explanation identifies the relevant detail; it does not infer information absent from the passage.
Try two examples first
