N5 foundation checks

N5 Reading Practice: Details, Notices and Changed Plans

Read short Japanese texts, locate evidence for an answer, and separate original plans from final instructions.

How to approach the questions

Read the question, then locate the relevant sentence in the passage. Keep the subject attached to its action: two people in a restaurant can order different meals. A number may describe a price, quantity, start time or meeting time. Check its unit and purpose.

In a changed plan, mark the original arrangement and the instruction that replaces it. Words such as ですが, 変わりました and ではありません often matter. For a conditional plan, decide whether the stated weather or other condition activates one branch or the other.

Each foundation check has two original passages with four questions each. One checks details; the other checks a changed or conditional plan. The learning collection has 30 further readings with word links and explanations. These checks cover reading only and contain no listening section.
