Practise a short ticket-counter conversation. State a destination, say how many tickets you need, and check the information you hear before paying.
Give one piece of information at a time
A useful opening is 京都までの切符を一枚お願いします. まで marks the endpoint, and 一枚 counts the ticket as a flat item. If the staff member asks 片道ですか, they are asking about a one-way ticket. 往復 is a round trip.
When a price is unclear, もう一度お願いします asks for repetition. You can also ask いくらですか to ask how much it costs. This dialogue does not give current fares or claim that every station has the same ticket options; its purpose is to practise the exchange.
Check the destination before closing
京都までですね repeats the endpoint for confirmation. Listen for the destination and quantity rather than responding はい automatically to every question. In a real trip, check the actual route and ticket restrictions with the operator.
